Kicks and Punches... Having a Ball

This little girl inside of me... Abigail is her name... Well, let me tell you she is having a ball. She is doing flips, kicking and punching me. It is just to darn cute and amazing. I had been feeling those movements for about a week and Brian got to feel her kick on Saturday night... Talk about turning a man into mush. I can't even describe the look of amazement and wonder on his face. He is so happy to be becoming a daddy. I am so happy for him too. He says everyday that this feels so surreal; that he can't believe that "this" is happening. I live each day with newness and just thank God everyday for allowing me to be a part of His wonderful plan in feeling from the inside and looking from the outside this growing girl of ours.

It's a ....

~~~~GIRL~~~~ Everything went wonderfully today even if it did take awhile for our precious bundle to show the "GOODS" ~ a little shy.... That is a good thing. Was a little disappointed that the only pic I got was of our baby's head scan... a great big head... And boy does this little girl move.... I haven't felt much as of yet; Dr. says if movement keeps up like this I will never get any rest. Iron levels were down again...Grrrrrr [:-/] What am I doing wrong?!?!?!?! Oh well, baby weighs about 14 oz. right now and it's looking like we might just have an acrobat on our hands with all the back flips baby was doing. I am so happy and since Brian said it was a girl from the start he did a little victory dance in the room after the Dr. left. I, then, wanted him to buy the first outfit. He is so happy and I can't wait till this baby is here.

16 weeks and 6 days to GO

Well, I just have 16 weeks and 6 days to go till the estimated due date.... I am in Week 23 now. I am so excited even if my body isn't up to par... LOL I still have my days of nausea and a few of those are still vomiting. I have a weird question can "iron" make you vomit? I have to take 3x the amount of iron required for most pregnant women.. I don't absorb iron into my body very well at all and so baby dearest is depleting my body of what I do have; so they doubled and now tripled my iron intake... I swear it makes me sick and vomit not to mention I burp (un~lady like; I know) iron all day long.

Provided that the weather holds at bay tomorrow, and the baby shows the "GOODS" we will know if we are having a BOY or GIRL~~~~

Tuesday ... January 8th... What did the Dr. Say!!!

Well, all went well or almost well~!!!! The GREAT News ~ Baby is measuring just fine... Heartbeat was 166 and we could hear baby dearest kicking... Still wondering when I am going to feel those kicks... I gained 2 pounds... (Yikes) Really I guess it is OK since I lost 12... The bad was my iron level was bad... worse than 4 weeks ago... I am doing everything the Dr. says (no liquid iron as he said can cause tooth damaged) Well, at the very 1st appointment it was 11.1... I got it to 11.5 at the second appointment... then 11.1 and then 10.5 and today's was 9.7... They are giving me one more month to get it up... with extra iron supplements (till Feb. 5th) if the levels are not up by then ... well then it is time for iron shots... (Weekly) or by IV every 2-3 weeks...I can't take it that... NEEDLES~ you got to be kidding.... I am eating two to three times off the iron group daily... The next appointment is Feb 5th at 1:45 PM...

~Now for the BEST NEWS~ if I can only wait this long.... Friday, Jan. 18th at 9:45 AM we will find out if we are having a boy or girl.... I can't wait... Still trying to figure out if we want to do the 3D/4D ultrasound....in 8 weeks

Mykey has his doggie Wings

We have two greyhounds and a schnauzer. The oldest greyhound... 8 years 6 months had to be put down today. On Wednesday we noticed he wasn't as active but he is old too and moves slow anyway... Well yesterday he had a lump (hump is more like it) on his back, didn't eat or drink, and had no control over his hind legs... We took him to the emergency vet today at noon and put him down at 2... They x-rayed the hump on his back and it was a massively large and fast growing bone tumor... We had only one option ~ steroids... surgery was out of the question due to the fact that it was in spine and ribs on one side. The vet was honest with us and told us that steroids would only do so good for so long and then we still have to put him down... So we put him down... They gave me a plaster print of his paw... and we should have the remains (ashes) back in about a week. He is so without pain but we are hurting...

18 weeks and 7 days.....

End of week 19

Our baby weighs about 8.5 ounces and is measuring 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large mango. The hair on the scalp is sprouting ( if there is lots of hair-- there will be heartburn). If our baby is a girl, she already has 6 million eggs in her ovaries. This is a crucial time for sensory development: Our baby's brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Baby may be able to hear us as we talk. Research shows that baby is learning to distinguish my voice from others, and will soon show a preference for it. Daddy is putting his head to my belly — he is talking to our baby.

Our little action figure is able to choreograph Matrix-like moves by now. Arms and legs are finally in proportion, neurons are now connected between the brain and muscles, and cartilage throughout the body is turning to bone. All these upgrades combine to give our baby more control over limb movements. Which explains all that kicking, stretching, and bodysurfing (or rather bellysurfing) you've possibly started feeling by now. Something else going on this week: Our baby is getting a cheesy varnish. Say what? Yup — a protective substance called vernix caseosa (vernix is the Latin word for varnish; caseosa is cheese) now covers our baby's skin. It's greasy and white and is made up of lanugo (that downy hair), oil from our baby's glands, and dead skin cells. This waxy "cheese" may not sound too appetizing or attractive, but it's there for good reason: Vernix protects our baby's sensitive skin from the surrounding amniotic fluid. Without it, our baby would look very wrinkled at birth (sort of what you'd look like if you soaked in a bath for nine months). Some babies — especially those born early — will still be covered with vernix at the delivery, so we might get a look at our baby's first anti-wrinkle cream. If I think I'm big now? I'll start growing even more rapidly in the weeks to come. This added weight may make it hard for me to keep up my regular pace (what pace?) without taking a catnap (been doing that) during the day. If I start to get that darkened line running from the top of your belly button to the top of your pubic bone---haven't yet. It's called the linea nigra, or 'dark line,' and is caused by a temporary increase in melanin, the substance that colors my hair, skin, and eyes.
